Certificate Program

A Hansen Leadership Initiative

The Hansen Leadership Certificate Program helps leaders develop their own authentic path, while working towards a vision grounded in their deepest values. Participants explore not only what they want to do, but who they want to be. Dynamic, challenging, exciting, the five individual seminars based on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® are intended to approach leadership as a measurable, learnable, and teachable set of behaviors.

Requirements for the Certificate include involvement in three areas of leadership development:

Certificate Seminars

Through Certificate Seminars, participants explore leadership through The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership. Participants must complete all five workshops but have the flexibility of completing workshops at their own pace. Each workshop is offered yearly.

  • Model The Way
  • Enable Others to Act
  • Encourage The Heart
  • Challenge The Process
  • Inspire a Shared Vision

Professional Mentorship

Participants are expected to identify at least one professional mentor that they will contact following each workshop attended. Reflection questions will be provided to discuss with mentor. Participants are expected to turn in written responses to questions following mentor discussion.

Final Reflection

Following the completion of the participant’s final workshop, a reflection integrating all five tenets/topics and personal leadership experiences must be submitted. Reflection can be in written or other creative form.

Completion of the Certificate is recognized at the annual Student Leadership Awards Ceremony.  Participants receive a paper certificate, his or her name engraved on the Hansen Leadership Certificate plaque displayed in Hansen Hall and a gift in celebration of the achievement.
